Bubble vs. Transmutation – Empath Survival Skills

By the time I hit my 20s, I was a baby empath on complete overload. Spirituality was brand new to me, and once I realized there were others like me, I went on a mission to learn everything I could.

So, I started asking my mentors what to do… and I got hit with the “just put yourself in a bubble” advice. I tried—believe me, I tried. I bubbled, I gemmed, I saged, I salt-bathed. If someone told me to do it, I did it.

The problem? Every damn time I invoked that bubble, the energy got worse. Like the universe was sitting back with popcorn going, “Ah, no, bitch—you’re meant to feel. If you push, we push back harder.”

I seriously thought something was wrong with me, or that I was doing it wrong. And I went another ten years before my spirit team finally came through and said: “You’re NOT meant to block the energy—you’re meant to transmute it.”

Why the Bubble Doesn’t Work for Everyone

The bubble doesn’t work for all soul roles. Some of us—especially the psychopomps, gridworkers, gatekeepers, transmuters, and frequency holders—aren’t here to float through life in a crystal egg pretending everything is fine. Because spoiler: it’s not.

We’re not here to block the energy, and we’re definitely not here to carry it. We’re here for something specific: to transform it.

Here’s the thing: energy never dies—it just changes form. So, if we all lived in our happy little bubbles, where would that dense, heavy energy go? Straight to the ones who are open and vulnerable. And being empathic, do you really want to push that weight onto your child? Or the sweet old lady next door with the flower garden? I’m guessing your answer is already “hell no.”

So what do we do instead? If energy doesn’t die… we transmute that bitch.

So What is Transmutation?

Transmutation isn’t a magic wand. It won’t erase energy or make you immune. You’ll still feel what’s moving through you — but there’s a huge difference between feeling it for a moment and carrying it for days (or decades). That difference is everything.

Transmutation is about letting the energy pass through you and change form, instead of lodging in your system. You don’t block it; you don’t cling to it — you alchemize it.

Here’s my go-to method:

  1. Feel it. Notice where the energy sits in your body.

  2. Call in the light. Imagine a pure white light pouring in from above your head.

  3. Breathe it through. Inhale light, exhale the dark. Let it flow out through your mouth, chakras, and the soles of your feet.

  4. Let it shift. Sometimes you’ll feel it literally transform inside you; other times it just releases. Both are fine.

  5. Return it to the Earth. Send it down through your feet. The tingling is confirmation that it’s moving.

And remember — Mother Earth doesn’t see this as dumping. She takes it as an offering and knows exactly how to transmute it further.

Tips & Tricks for Extra Support

Transmutation is the foundation, but sometimes we need backup — especially at events, crowded spaces, or days when we already know the energy will be thick. Here are some of my go-to tools:

  • Tourmalinated Quartz Bracelet (left wrist if right-handed, right wrist if left-handed). Energy flows in from your receiving side. Wearing this stone on bare skin helps filter and ground what you’re picking up. Tourmalinated Quartz doesn’t just help the way most crystals do — it actually shifts the energy the same way we do, while also amplifying. Think of it as a walking totem, a mini mineral version of us Transmutators. Total powerhouse partner.

  • Nettle Salve Anointing. I use nettle on my entry points — hairline, chest, stomach, hands, and feet. Nettle has become one of my most powerful allies for boundary support.

  • Hair / Head Sovereignty. Hair is like antennas — it pulls in everything. Keeping mine up helps keep me sovereign and less porous. For men, a hat works just as well.

  • Color Cloak Invocation. Not a bubble, but intentional color magic. I’ll cloak myself in red if I want to be seen as sensual, black if I want invisibility, or other colors as needed.

None of these are “fixes.” They’re supports. Try one, try them all, experiment, and see what clicks for you.

The Mic-Drop Moment

So, no—there’s nothing wrong with you. You’re not “too sensitive,” “too open,” or “doing it wrong.” You’re just not built for the bubble. You’re built for the alchemy.

You were never meant to hide from the world—you were meant to change it. One breath, one lightbeam, one transmuted bitch of an energy at a time.

Now go on, magic-maker. The world’s a little lighter already just because you’re in it.
